The Cape Verdean freedom fighter Amílcar Cabral once said that culture plays an important role in our self-worth and freedom. For us, that culture begins with language. In the diaspora and subsequent generations, our language can sometimes slowly fade into the background, and with it, a piece of our identity.

With our alphabet cards and games, among other things, we playfully bring the language back into the homes of the new generation. We believe that learning the Cape Verdean language is a way to celebrate our roots, cultivate pride, and connect young people with their heritage. Because language is more than just words. It is memory, it is feeling, it is recognition and pride. Because if you know where you come from, the path to your future is easier to shape.
